David uses all his courage, compassion, and wisdom as an experienced Certified Professional Coach to help leaders and their organizations flourish and thrive. Especially in the face of uncertainty and change. As an Executive Coach, he's been described as: "gently fierce!" He's an expert in Positive Intelligence and helps professionals improve performance, engage in healthier relationships, unleash their potential, and have peace of mind. As a trainer, David helps teams, working groups, and boards build trust, engage in healthy conflict, and create accountability, candor, and integrity. This work includes training leaders in the art of coaching and leadership to help them create cohesive teams, retain talent, and get results. Unlike other executive coaches and leadership trainers, David's background spans the nonprofit and corporate sectors for over three decades. He successfully served in frontline and management positions in fundraising and university technology transfer in the nonprofit world. Before starting executive coaching and training practice, David led a team of ten development professionals at Princeton University, responsible for $35million in annual support for the University. Before this, he served as the Chief Development Officer for Stony Brook University's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. In the corporate sector, David led market research, product development, sales, and marketing initiatives. His experience culminated in transforming a division of an entrepreneurial company in San Francisco, where he built and led a team of three dozen researchers, artists, engineers, and product managers. ?Fun Fact?--David is a master's world champion in Jiu-Jitsu on a 10-year quest to Black Belt. As an author, David penned several books and guides on leadership and personal development including: Wisdom From the Middle Ages for Living and Leading in Modern Times, You're not a Zombie (Yet!), The Essential Leadership Guide for Nonprofit Professionals, The Stoic Way of Leadership, and A Life with Peace and Tranquility. He also co-authored Managing for Retention. Thousands of professionals interested in self-development regularly follow David's posts on LinkedIn. His books and blogposts express some of his philosophy and approach to life and leadership. David hold a master's degree in management and business administration from Stony Brook University, a master's degree in materials science from Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree in physics-engineering and mathematics from Washington and Lee University. He achieved my Professional Coach Certification (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF) and my Certified Professional Coach Certification (CPCC) through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI). He is also a Certified DISC Practitioner. As a volunteer, David founded The Kitchen Table, a global collective of volunteer leaders that believes that solutions can come from curiosity, compassion, and a broad willingness to engage with others to understand opposing points of view.
