David Ly is the author of the poetry collections Mythical Man (shortlisted for the 2021 ReLit Poetry Award) and Dream of Me as Water (2022), both published under the Anstruther Books imprint at Palimpsest Press. He is also the co-editor of Queer Little Nightmares: an Anthology of Monstrous Fiction and Poetry (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2022). His poems have appeared in PRISM international, The Puritan, Arc Poetry Magazine, Best Canadian Poetry 2021, and elsewhere. He has been previously shortlisted for the Thomas Morton Memorial Prize in Poetry (2017), nominated for a Pushcart Prize for Poetry (2019), and was an honourable mention for the Leon E. and Ann M. Pavlick Poetry Prize (2021). In 2021, David won the inaugural Austin Clarke Prize in Literary Excellence for Poetry for his poem "Same Ocean." David is the Poetry Editor at This Magazine, part of the Anstruther Press Editorial Collective, a Poetry Manuscript Consultant with The Writers’ Studio at SFU, and a poetry mentor through the ECW Press BIPOC Writers Mentorship Program. David is currently at work on his first novel.
