As a sustaining member of the GRAMMYs®, Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI), the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), David Ruttenberg has been fortunate to work with A-list entertainers and up-and-coming stars—including some of the biggest names in the entertainment and business world: Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, Lindsey Buckingham, 3M, DirecTV, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and Blockbuster Video. Ruttenberg honed his business acumen serving in upper-level posts of companies including NEOTEK Corporation, Otari Corporation, Recording-Engineer-Producer (REP) Magazine, Sound & Video Contractor (S&VC) Magazine, and GATE International. David has produced, engineered, and mastered thousands of tracks and has completed project work for Jeff Berlin, Russ Freeman, The Rippingtons, and Eric Marienthal. In the process, Ruttenberg’s work has been featured alongside tracks performed by Chick Corea, Peter Erskine, and Russell Ferrante. David also spends time raising awareness and money for charitable causes, including the Margaux’s Miracle Foundation through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Pediatric Department. He’s created two smooth-jazz solo albums—Sunset Key and Miracles—specifically for these causes. Ruttenberg mastered his performance, engineering, and production skills by attending both the George Washington University and the University of Miami. He has degrees from the latter’s Frost School of Music and College of Engineering. David lectures at many colleges and universities and provides private instruction and mentoring to clients both in his Florida studio and online. His clients describe his easygoing style as friendly, humorous, and balanced by a love of all things technical and creative. He is equally at home in recording, mixing, and mastering studios, working on major and independent projects.
