David Wortley is a baby boomer born in 1949 in Boston, Lincolnshire, UK and son of a carpenter, joiner and undertaker. He regards himself as very fortunate to have lived through an unprecedented period in human history in which digital technologies have transformed almost all aspects of the world we live in.

His passion is to understand, communicate and shape the impact of technology on our lives and he draws his inspiration from two very different people who have lived at different times in the town of Market Harborough in Leicestershire.

The first inspiration has been Thomas Cook, a social entrepreneur who made global travel accessible, affordable and attractive in the 1850s when the railway network expanded rapidly in the UK and his vision was to transform lives and broaden horizons through this new communications network.

The second inspiration was his remarkable milkman webmaster, Frank Bingley, founder of the Bigfern community web site. He opened David's eyes to the empowering nature of Web 2.0 which uses the communications network of the 21st century to broaden horizons.

David loves writing about the changes he has seen in his lifetime and he is lucky enough to be able to both write about this and speak at conferences all over the world
