W. Evelyn Martin-Woods possessed the desire to write novels as a teenager. She imparted the literary gift to her children: York Martin III, Esquire, Deborah Faye Martin, and DeVan Faye Brittenum, Nom de Plume. As a family unit, they collaborated on several writing projects. They are the authors of the following novels: Bitter Fruit: The Street Ministry, The Strain of Shackles, The Belligerent Beast Within, and Castle High: Accountability or Pink Slip. Moreover, York is the author of a screenplay entitled Pimpology: The Macking Game. DeVan published an academic article in the SRATE Journal entitled "Has High-Stakes Testing Caused Academic Segregation". The authors write to inform and entertain.
