Dean Vagnozzi is not your average financial advisor, but he does make the average investor wealthier than anyone imagined possible. Vagnozzi empowers middle class investors to generate returns typically reserved for the uber rich. He offers investment opportunities that sidestep the volatility and intangibility of Wall Street, and he consistently generates high single- to low double-digit returns for clients. As a highly successful renegade who set out on his own and pioneered several counter-culture investment strategies that work, the 15-year veteran of the financial industry has proven that flying in the face of conventional-but-flawed wisdom can produce results the average, middle class investor never dreamed possible. The 50-year-old financial entrepreneur and President of A Better Financial Plan, LLC, believes in making his client’s money work hard for them—now—and that they deserve better than traditional investment offerings tied to the inevitable risk and cycles of the stock market. After graduating from Albright College in 1990, Vagnozzi began his career in accounting. He soon realized the repetitive, number-crunching and solitary profession was not for him. His natural enthusiasm and magnetic energy eventually led Vagnozzi to a successful sales career at SAP, Deloitte Consulting and Anderson. During this time, the stock market was experiencing over three years of major declines, and watching his 401(k) whither inspired Vagnozzi to save and explore more creative investment strategies. An avid reader, he pored over countless books during this time but ultimately found the greatest inspiration in George S. Clason’s “The Richest Man in Babylon” and Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” which ultimately inspired him to forge his own financial destiny. Vagnozzi began studying wealth management in earnest at this time, enrolling in seminars, reading more and researching unorthodox money management tactics. At the time, Vagnozzi had a $70,000 cash value life insurance policy and decided to cash out that policy in order to purchase his first residential real estate property to create an ongoing rental opportunity. He made $70,000 that very year from his only investment property at the time. After purchasing 15 more rental properties over the next seven years, Vagnozzi consistently earned about $8,000 per month in profits. He eventually made between $800,000 to $1 million by flipping investment properties. Witnessing his success, soon his friends and family wanted in on the action. Suddenly Vagnozzi found himself pooling money from other smart investors to purchase bigger rental units through Private Placement Memorandums, which empowered his friends and family to invest in real estate while simultaneously complying with state and federal SEC laws. As a result, middle class investors could now afford to invest in real estate opportunities that they would not otherwise be able to afford on their own. After his true calling became unmistakable, Vagnozzi quit the rigors of corporate America cold turkey and struck out on his own, forming his own financial planning firm in 2004. After fifteen years of testing creative investment strategies, the firm now boasts five unconventional investment offerings in five different industries that are all lower risk than Wall Street with a much more predictable upside. In fact, since 2010 the firm has invested over $150 million on behalf of more than 1,000 clients. Today, after years of developing a deep understanding of how to maximize returns for investors in creative ways, Vagnozzi is known for providing simple solutions that empower middle class investors to participate in high-yielding opportunities that would otherwise be unattainable to them. His proven strategy of pooling money with like-minded investors to leverage limited partnerships managed by Vagnozzi and his team helps them, as a collective, achieve the same returns typically reserved for those with much more capital to spend. Vagnozzi and his wife, Christa, live in Collegeville, PA where they are parents to four amazing children—two girls and two boys. In his spare time, Vagnozzi can be found on the golf course, cheering his daughter on at her college soccer games, or relaxing by his pool.
