Doreen Morrison (1959 - ) was born in Birmingham England, to Jamaican parents. As a child she developed a love for history, but whilst she had an understanding of the history of her country of birth, she had no understanding of the history of her parents place of birth. She therefore embarked on a journey to write her own history - books she couldn't find on the shelves. In 2015 she published her first book, Slavery's Heroes: George Liele and the Ethiopian Baptists of Jamaica, 1783 - 1865. It is suitable for school-aged children and young adults. In 2018 she published her second book in the series, Ruled by Britannia: Jamaican Christianity's Interregnum, 1866 - 2016, telling the story of the evolution of Black Christianity, from it's home in Jamaica to the communities of England, sharing the lived experiences of being conflicted between two cultures. 2022 then saw the publishing of her third book, George Lisle: A Faith That Couldn't Be Denied, Jamaica 1783 -1865 by Wipf and Stock. This book is ideal for students interested in missions, African American and Caribbean history, Baptist history, entecostalism, rastafari, religion and spirituality.
