Doris Faye Jones is an artist, writer, and poet. She began her creative expressions at a personal level equivalent to keeping a diary. For ages, she would squirrel and hide these creations away. These began without any intention for them to be shared with others. Over the years, experiences and relationships in her life began to open her heart to a willingness to share these with others. In 2015, this artist found herself challenged by the heartbreak of lost love and financial struggles. Doris was approached by a friend asking “why don’t you sell some of your art?”. After deliberation and consideration, she humbly began to do just that. Her pieces, SunGod and Namaste, sold first. Other pieces were sold, other artwork started and many decades of unfinished work were completed. Doris has been painting ever since.
Dori's artwork is not about making money; she paints what and where her heart takes her. They are “labors” of a loving nature. They’re filled with love and warmth direct from the artist’s heart. Every piece has a story behind it and most of them represent love in some way. There are a lot of things worth working hard for. Love is at the top of the list for this artist, right up there with Life.
A mantra for this artist is, “When I love life, it always loves me back”. If you’ve seen any piece of her work, read any poem or story, you’ve seen a piece of this artist’s heart. She has been sketching and creating ever since. A lifetime of art locked away in a private world was finally brought out into the light. The artist began to let others “see” her in a way no one had before.
The first and foremost step in her process when beginning any new piece of art, poem or other creative work is “may God remove my need for perfectionism”.
She utilizes mediums across many categories, such as pencil, ink, markers, charcoal, acrylics, watercolors, chalk and many more. She has even been known to use makeup and other simple inexpensive craft supplies intended for children. She also transitioned to primarily creating art on canvas, however, she is currently working with paper art creating pieces for graphic illustrations to include with her publications.
In 2019, she released her first self-published poetry and art book. Her second volume was published August 5, 2019. She recently published a children's coloring story book on May 22, 2020 called The Love Cloak: Coloring Story Book. In 2020, she launched her Diva Ruminations journey and released Ruminations On A Shooting Star; a 21 day meditative journey for women to take with God. In 2021, she published a full length spoken word poetry album to accompany the tribute poetry collection for dearly departed Van Bakes, BLACK HESHER entitled 'Magic Man'. She has subsequently published Bursting Deaths in Little Spikes, a poetic romance short and launched her graphic illustrated haiku series: L'amour Déshabillée; as well as her Diva Daily Living Coloring Book Series. Her latest release and fifth poetry collection is I Live In Love.
This author has many upcoming projects coming along towards their completion: an extensive poetry anthology, a comedic daily calendar of dating hysterics for men and women, children's books, and more. Her most recent creation is Enraptures of the Muse Divine Kindle Vella.
