After working in a busy San Diego, California, emergency department for nearly twenty-one years, Dr. Russ Reinbolt now travels to smaller ERs in the Pacific Northwest, caring for those in more rural communities. A hit at parties, he has endless entertaining stories to tell after having served more than 100,000 patients to date. Thirteen years ago, he completed his first ultramarathon. Dr. Russ started running in high school and hasn’t stopped yet. Triathlons and road races were the foundation of his athletic life, leading to ever-more demanding events. He thrives on ultra-distance races in the most extreme environments, whether they be blazing hot or frigidly cold and remote. He lives in San Diego with his wife of nineteen years, Diane, and his two teenage daughters. Fun but dirty fact: Dr. Russ eats a 1,000-calorie bowl of ice cream before bed three nights a week!
