Ed Bray grew up in a household where he started learning the art of working smart in the workplace through conversations with his father and grandfather, human resources executives at IBM for over seventy-five years combined. When Ed was kicked out of the nest, he spent the next twenty-five years (and counting) working in human resources at ten companies, including Ross Stores, Inc., The First American Corporation, Hawaiian Airlines, and Apria Healthcare, reporting to seventeen managers. Over this period, Ed has had the good fortune of being recognized for working smart as he’s been promoted four times, was awarded human resources Rookie of the Year in 2017 and Change Champion in 2018 at Ross Stores, Inc., appeared on the cover of a national human resources periodical, Employee Benefit News, in 2013 for work he performed at Hawaiian Airlines, and taught human resources courses at the University of California–Irvine from 2012 - 2018, where he was presented with the Distinguished Instructor Award in 2017. He has presented human resources topics at major human resources association conferences, including HR Executive and WorldatWork, served as a contributing editor to major human resources periodicals, including Employee Benefit News and cfo.com. Ed has been appointed to advisory councils for major employers and human resources associations, including Anthem, Kaiser Permanente, and Wells Fargo. Prior to entering the working world, Ed was a professional student as he earned a BS from Providence College, JD from Western New England University–School of Law, and an MBA from Auburn University. He is a licensed attorney in New Jersey. When he’s not trying to act like a human resources superhero, Ed lives in Dublin, California, and enjoys sports, traveling, exercising, and spending time with his wife, Christy, their three children, Sarah, Corinne, and Liam, and labradoodle, Alfie.
