Edward Krueger Connors, Jr. was born on May 6, 1945, in Omaha, Nebraska. After receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Ed served in Vietnam with the US Army. On February 28, 1979, Ed, along with two partners, purchsed the single Gold's Gym in Santa Monica, CA. On June 16, 1980, Ed opened the first-ever gym franchise. Before existing the company in 2004, the chain grew to become the largest gym chain in the world. Ed is currently designing a new gym model for the post-pandemic era. He enjoys reading and traveling in his free time.
