About Edward Funk Edward J. Funk grew up the fourth child in rural Indiana, graduated from Marquette University, and fought in Viet Nam. He eventually worked in advertising at “Sea World of Florida” in Florida and “The Queen Mary” in Long Beach, California. In 1990 and as a writer, he started his collaboration with actress Loretta Young. What started as a working relationship soon developed into a friendship that grew throughout Miss Young's last decade. At one point she told him that he was her best friend. Their collaboration gave fruit to a trilogy: “Behind the Door: the Real Story of Loretta Young,” the biography of Miss Young, “Loretta and Me,” the story of the ten year interaction between the author and Miss Young, and “Eavesdropping: Loretta Young Talks about her Movie Years,” Miss Young’s memories of making ninety+ movies from the silent era into the 1550s. After Miss Young’s death, Mr. Funk went to nursing school and became a RN. He worked on a locked-down pediatric, psychiatric unit for thirteen years. Then in 2015, fifteen years after Miss Young’s death, these books were freshly rewritten and published for the first time. Since then, Mr. Funk has embarked on both non-fiction and fiction. "Down a Country Road and Beyond..." is his brutally honest biography. The most recent fictional books are set in the rural Indiana of his youth. He plans to continue mining this rich Americana vein. Already available in the Richland / Heartland series: "Christmas Even on Hwy 41", "A House But Not A Home" and "About a Family...". Mr. Funk now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
