Emmitt L Ross- Born, March 14, 1953 on Brush Creek Road , Wayne County West Virginia about one mile south of Stiltner, WV. Born the third of five children of a coal miner and farmer and later in life a mechanic. Grew up in rural Applachians where life was hard and nothing came easy. Education began at East Lynn Elementary in East Lynn, WV and extended to Wayne High School in Wayne, WV. Scholarship offered from Berea College, in Berea, KY. Family life was critical on the farm, as three families worked and was supported from the income timber, crops and livestock brought in. As the 1950's was a time of great recession, right after the Great Depression, every asset was needed to live off the land and one of the greatest assets: Moonshine! Grandparents who specialized in the production and distribution of corn liquor to those who were influential in the surrounding areas, made an adequate addition to the family cause. These were the times and places our Author experienced his greatest moments of childhood and freedom.
