As many know, he was formerly Chief Executive Officer of the major British jewellery company Ratners Group, which he had built up from a loss making 130 stores to 3500 and £125 million annual profit in only 8 years. After an eventful dinner in 1992 at a corporate speaking engagement for the Institute of Directors, he shot to fame globally after making a well intentioned joke at the company's products.Causing the loss of £500 million of the group's shares value. Less than 10 years later he had built another business, this time through his passion for fitness, and sold it for £4.5million.
