Gloria Shell Mitchell, DMin and PhD, is a seminary graduate, divorce researcher and support group facilitator who passionately writes about faith, family, and finances. She wrote and directed church plays, “Gimme That Ole Time Religion” and “Jesus Is Alive.” Her dissertation, Compassionately Addressing Divorce: A Redemptive Model of Ministry to Divorced Christian Leaders, was published by ProQuest and is used to facilitate divorce support groups. Her second dissertation: Compassionately Addressing Abuse focuses on childhood sexual abuse with emphasis on prevention, intervention and recovery. She is the author of The Garbage Man's Daughter Series: Letting Go of Shame (Book 1), Letting Go of SECRETS (Book 2), Letting Go of STRESS (Book 3), and Letting Go of SCARS (Book 4). Bliss and Blisters in Love & Marriage and Desire After Divorce are extensions of the series that culminates with I TRUST HIM. She has also published songs, gospel raps, and poems. Her book, God Says: "I AM" is a book of poems. Famous Faces in Dark Places was inspired by her ministry to hurting people in her role as a certified mental health coach. My Knotty Decision addresses abortion. She is the co-author of Papa and His Pigeon, a book based on the true story of Clara E. Williams, a nonagenarian who shared her rich heritage as a Black Seminole. Gloria has hosted a weekly radio show on KTYM, Inglewood and Wilkins Christian Radio for more than twenty years and has published articles with the Baptist Sunday School Board, Gospel Roads Magazine, and others, including Chicken Soup for the Soul: Attitude of Gratitude. She was delighted to share one of her raps on the Steve Harvey Show. This mother of two daughters delights in educating, encouraging and empowering others through word and deed. Proceeds from book sales help to support her ministry to homeless residents in a sober living transitional house she opened in 2018.
