Gordon Kerr grew up in the Scottish new town of East Kilbride. After graduating from Glasgow University, he lived in France before working in the wine trade in London, followed by marketing jobs in bookselling and publishing, for Waterstones and Bloomsbury, respectively. He has written numerous books in a variety of non-fiction genres and his first novel, The Partisan Heart, was published in 2019. His book, The 1960s In Maps, is published by Granta in September 2025. He is married with two grown-up children and lives in Dorset.
