Dr Helen West has maintained a private psychotherapy practice since earning her PhD from The George Washington University, where for many years she also supervised psychology trainees and psychiatry residents in the university hospital as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Prior to collaborating on Claiming My Place, the biography of her mother, Helen has published research articles, essays, book reviews and poems in professional and literary journals and has led workshops for professional psychotherapists. She lives with her husband, Carl Frank, in Washington, DC and Key West, Florida.
