Helen Wan is the author of THE PARTNER TRACK (St. Martin’s Press), the story of a young woman of color competing for partnership at a powerful law firm. Her novel was a Book Club pick by REAL SIMPLE Magazine and the National Association of Women Lawyers, and was featured in a WASHINGTON POST Magazine cover story on Asian Americans and the glass ceiling. A lawyer for fifteen years, Helen writes about women in the workplace and how race, class, and culture impact our pursuit of happiness. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, CNN.com, The Daily Beast, and The Huffington Post. The book began as late night scribblings on a legal pad when Helen was a first-year associate at a big New York firm. But with the day job and all the life stuff that gets in the way, a lot of time went by when she set aside her manuscript. Finally she signed up for a "Starting Your Novel" class at night. The homework pages she wrote for that class became THE PARTNER TRACK. The book is now taught in colleges and law schools, and Helen is a frequent speaker at universities, companies, law firms, and leadership conferences, especially on how to achieve more diverse, inclusive environments. She has also taught fiction writing in New York. Helen is currently at work on a new novel. A graduate of Amherst College and the University of Virginia School of Law, she lives with her family in the NYC area. Her author website is www.helenwan.com. You can find her on Facebook or Twitter @helenwan1.
