Howard Fishman is an author, composer, performer, and playwright. He is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, where he has published essays on music, film, theater, literature, and culture. Fishman's writing has also appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, The Telegraph, The Washington Post, Artforum, The San Francisco Chronicle, Mojo, The Village Voice, Jazziz, and Salmagundi. As a performing songwriter and bandleader, Fishman has toured internationally for more than two decades, and has released 11 albums of music to date. His play, "A Star Has Burnt My Eye," was a New York Times "Critic’s Pick."
