I've always loved writing. Back in the last century, I began my career in the newspaper business as journalist and photographer and then worked my way up to the role of Editor. I had the privilege of helping launch a small town newspaper where I reported local news and the ever-present political shenanigans. Many weekends were spent taking pictures of sports events and the occasional crotchety politician. My focus later shifted to the private sector, where, for 20 years, I worked in communications and marketing. In 2014, an unexpected business restructuring put a halt to my career and, with the support of my partner Ian, I jumped full-time into creative writing - what I call my "word movies." Since then, I've written one movie script, nine children's picture books and three novels: A Bright Darkness, the final book in The Twisted Climb trilogy; Darkness Descends, and Book 1, The Twisted Climb. I live in a small town in Ontario, Canada and find copious writing ideas from the wooded areas and wildlife surrounding my property. During the brief Canadian summer (don't blink), you can find me sailing the pristine waters of Georgian Bay. 2022 - After a year of research, writing and re-writing, the final book in The Twisted Climb series is complete. 'A Bright Darkness' brings the main characters together for one final adventure - rescuing the lost souls in the danademo nde' - the place where the heart weeps. The Ojibwe traditions and legends are brought to life for Jayden, Connor and Max and the series' conclusion is truly epic. AWARDS: I'm delighted to announce I was voted 'Best Local Author 2021' for South Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. I'm grateful for this honour. A Bright Darkness was a finalist in the 2022 Best Young Adult book category of the Readers' Poll awards. Darkness Descends, Book 2 of The Twisted Climb series, was short-listed for the prestigious Word Guild award for Best Young Adult book, fiction, in the 'general market' category. Darkness Descends was also voted BEST YOUNG ADULT BOOK in 2018 by the Critters Annual Readers Poll. The Twisted Climb was the winner of the P&E Readers Award for BEST YOUNG ADULT Book, 2016.
