James Spoonhour writes Washington, D.C. police procedurals grounded in real investigative experience. His debut novel INCENTIVE FOR DEATH introduces homicide detectives Mac Burke and Oliver Shaw working a case that begins with a dead lawyer and ends somewhere far more dangerous. Before writing fiction, Spoonhour served as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and was assigned to the Pentagon on a major leak case. He attended Georgetown University Law School at night while stationed in Washington and volunteered as an investigator for the D.C. Public Defender office. After law school, he was a trial and appellate attorney with a large Florida law firm. He was also a law professor at Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans. The investigative authenticity of Incentive for Death comes from being inside the rooms where these things happen. Spoonhour is a member of International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America and Jericho Writers in the U.K. He is a tournament croquet player and lives in North Carolina. PREPARE TO DIE, the second book in the Mac and Oliver series, is forthcoming.
