The bestseller-author Jando was born on July 16, 1970, in Oldenburg in the German federal state of Lower Saxony. He is a modern storyteller with timeless messages for young and old, great and small. The North German tells his seaman’s tales on long walks along the coast. When he was a little boy, Jando wanted to be a pirate who distributed his booty among the poor. This dream is reflected in his books. Jando’s successful debut Windträume ... eine wundersame Reise zu sich selbst (Wind dreams: a wondrous journey to the self), which he first published himself in 2003, was issued by a classic publishing house in 2010 and is also available as an audio CD. After spending time in Cologne the storyteller now lives near the North Sea coast. His modern fairytale Sternenreiter: Kleine Sterne leuchten ewig (Star Rider: Small stars shine forever) was published in 2012 in hardback and as an audio book. To date, 120,000 copies of the book have been sold on the German market. The title was launched on the Korean book market in 2015 after Penguin Publishing Café bought the rights.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair 2014 Jando was nominated for the Orbanismen Award and voted onto the shortlist of Most Infectious Personalities. He is a volunteer for the children's charity „Ein Herz für Kinder“ and supports the baby seal campaign run by the animal rights organisation „PETA“.

Praise from press:
"With Star Rider – Small stars shine forever North German writer Jando has created a small and
moving modern fairytale. Engaging texts and nuggets of wisdom, which are reminiscent of
Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s Little prince, and Antjeca’s magical illustrations will leave a
lasting impression on the reader."

"A fairytale, comforting and healing reading experience. A story which gets you thinking and radiates hope and
assurance." –NWZ-

"You have to rediscover the childhood anarchy within you to be able to ride on the stars.”
It’s not a matter of having your own childlike chaos but of rediscovering it and again making it your own. On the other hand you are reminded of the much-quoted line from Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s The little prince: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” This view from within is further developed by Jando in Star Rider, resulting in a veritable and poetic nurturing of the heart. After his first novel Wind dreams, with Star Rider the author has produced another wonderful, poetic book which I can fully recommend. But not just that: you should recommend a good book, urge your friends to read a very good book – and give the especially important books to your best friends.
-Eselsohren: The book magazin-

A wonderfully poetic story, a modern fairytale which puts readers very much in mind of The little prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, causing them to pause for thought and question themselves, their dreams and their desires. A book for reading and philosophising over, for contemplation, wonder and amazement. Highly recommended.
