Jeff R. Spalsbury writes contemporary, western, and science fiction novels, as well as a collection of Christmas short stories. Before becoming a full-time novelist and short-story writer, he was a research librarian, director of a college library, and a college professor. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and grew up in the small town of Logan, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University, San Jose State University and the University of Denver. He currently lives in Murrieta, California. For his western novels, he has traveled extensively throughout the Southwest exploring unique locations for his novels. Using factual sites, people, and events to enhance his fiction, he manages to capture both the spirit and the mystique of the Old West. His desire is to instill in the reader respect and wonder for the courage and the fortitude of the men and women who settled the American West. He is an active member of Western Writers of America (WWA). He enjoys writing in four genres and is often asked if it is hard to switch back and forth among them. In a recent interview, he said, "I find it very refreshing except (like a few months ago) when I was working on the final edit of my science fiction novel, plus being in the middle of writing a contemporary novel, the interviewer asked questions about my Christmas short story collection. That got my head spinning a bit, but, normally, by the time I've finished one book, I'm ready to switch genres and work on another." In 2016, he published three books. His fourth western novel in the Hunt Series, The White-Haired Buffalo Hunt was first, then his contemporary novel, Banishing the Darkness was second. Next came Zorkon's Secret: The Hunt for the Conundrums, the first book in a new science fiction series he's writing. In 2017, he finished his second science fiction novel Space Dream Two: The Nat-Sat Legacy. In 2018, he completed the final book in the Space Dream Trilogy, Space Dream Three: A New Dina Galaxy. He said recently while speaking to a book club in Thousand Oaks, "The Space Dream Trilogy is three sequential novels, and is actually two books in one. The Earth sequences are mystery and action, while the Dina Galaxy is a fast-paced outer space adventure story. Thus, it requires a more intense writing effort to bring it together and make it work." 2021 his new contemporary story was just published. Why Not Tomorrow is the story of a 43-year old billionaire, mysteriously killed, and his closest friend Ethan Grayson, who inherits all the wealth. Now Ethan must find out how and why his friend was killed before he meets a similar fate. In late 2021 The 20% Solution will be published. What if you killed off 20% of all the bad people in the United States. Wouldn't that make life so much better for all the good people left over? But who decides who the bad and good people are and what happens if they chose you? In Spalsbury's new book, The 20% Solution, you will find out. Spalsbury hopes that you enjoy his novels and short stories as much as he enjoys writing them.
