Hi! My name is Jimmy Settle. Thanks for checking out my page! My book "Never Quit" comes out March 7, 2017. Among many events in my life, I did not see this coming. It is not like me to put myself in the spot light, but my co-author Don Reardon felt my story could inspire people in all situations to keep-on keeping-on. Especially when life really pushes you down. Born and raised in Anchorage, AK, the book touches on my cross running successes in high school leading to running for the Naval Academy. From there I went to selling shoes which is when I decided to begin training to join the ranks of most elite rescue and recovery specialists, Pararescue. The United States Airforce Pararescue teams are rare and outside the attention of the mainstream. We are the guys that go in no matter the danger, whether it is cataclysmic weather, intense terrain, or angry bad guys to rescue anyone (lost hikers, sinking ships, astronauts, or SEALs) from the worst day of their life. It takes years of extremely intense training to earn the title Pararescueman (PJ). After I completed the pipeline of training, I had the honor to be a member of the best rescue team in the world, the Alaska 212th RQS, as a Pararescueman. After many search and rescue missions and lots more training, I deployed to Afghanistan. Daily life as a PJ is extremely dangerous and success is never guaranteed, but each of us took an oath, "These things we do, that others may live." Currently, I reside in the Seattle area with my wife and son. Life is a crazy ride and I'm grateful to still be on it.
