Following undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Oxford, John Duncan has worked for more than forty years on the link of mind to brain. His research on brain mechanisms of attention and intelligence, combining experimental psychology, brain imaging and neurophysiology, has brought awards and media coverage worldwide. He leads a research programme at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge, UK, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society and of the British Academy. In 2012 he was awarded the Heineken Prize in cognitive science.
