Retired First Class Petty Officer of the Navy John S. Marotta was born and raised in Upstate New York. He graduated from Amsterdam High School in June 1982. He joined the U.S. Army and attended basic training in Fort Benning GA in October 1992. He was honorably discharged from active duty with the Army in 2001 and joined the U.S. Navy Reserve in October 2002. He attended Basic Law Enforcement Training in May 2001 in pursuit of a civilian Police Officer job, which he retired after 20 years of serve to the community. john S. Marotta’s academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Columbia Southern University in Alabama. He was an honor graduate and a recipient of the Cagna Cum Laude award for his exceptional grade point average.
