I was a five-time winner of the New York State Bar Association's award for outstanding legal coverage, a 12-time winner of writing awards from the Associated Press and the New York Publishers Association, and published the 1996 true-crime book "Goodbye, My Little Ones," with my co-authors, Charles Hickey and Todd Lighty. The Post-Standard nominated me in 1993 for a Pulitzer Prize for stories that revealed corruption at the local medical examiner's office.
