By most accounts, particularly from one of the Amazon book reviewers of Mortal Adhesions, I should be dead, and people shouldn't like me. But my story doesn't turn out that way. I am still alive, and a large crowd showed up for my Mortal Adhesions Book Launch. Rewarded with all the trappings of the American Dream by the time I was forty—a mansion looking down on the ocean, one of the best cars money can buy, several patents and products related to regenerating human bone lost to trauma and disease, and all-expenses-paid trips around the world to teach—my foibles, my reckless nature, and willingness to take chances brought me close to death multiple times. A Class 5 hurricane, two fires (one at home and one in a Rio de Janeiro hotel), and a Mack truck tire coming within 12 inches of my head as I lay on the ground after crashing my bicycle in Spain were some of my experiences. Any of them could've ended my life prematurely. I wrote this gripping memoir simply by recounting my life's true yet almost unbelievable events. Years earlier, I never believed in the supernatural---hauntings, demons, cherubs, heavenly saints, or even God, for that matter. One night, I cried out to an unknown God for help in a moment of despair and pain. I began receiving messages. No, not the kind written on paper or digital devices, or by weird radio-like messages entering my mind, but through absurdly ridiculous events, people, movie stars, and renowned scientists who kept appearing in my life at the most opportune moments—people and experiences I needed for me to believe. God proved to me—a scientist, entrepreneur, inventor, and surgeon who previously believed I was my own almighty entity—that he exists. All these experiences are recounted in Mortal Adhesions.
