Josh Fernandez is an active-duty Marine Corps Officer and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Naval Postgraduate School. His calling began within the pages of over thirty handwritten notebooks left behind by his late brother, CJ Fernandez.

In 2005, CJ began writing an epic action-adventure saga of personified animals exploring themes of valor and purpose. Following CJ’s tragic passing in 2011 after a long struggle with mental health, Josh found the collection of stories and made it his mission to finish what his brother started and to preserve his brother’s voice. After more than a decade of meticulously weaving these stories together, the Pure Courage series is finally coming to light.

The series is a celebration of CJ’s legacy and a platform to raise awareness for mental health. Josh is a devoted husband and father. He is honored to share this world with the help of his brother, Tony Fernandez, whose illustrations bring CJ’s characters to life.
