Joshua R. Greenberg, Ph.D. is the editor of Commonplace: the journal of early American life. Born and raised in New Jersey, he received a B.A. in history from the University of California, Santa Cruz and Ph.D. from American University. After a fellowship at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, he taught at the University of Miami, Bridgewater State University, and Ohlone College. He is the author of Advocating the Man: Masculinity, Organized Labor, and the Household in New York, 1800-1840 and has contributed essays to Capitalism by Gaslight: Illuminating the Economy of Nineteenth-Century America and A Companion to the Era of Andrew Jackson. Josh currently lives in LA County.
