Joshua Rettew grew up in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Reading has always been an escape for him, as fantasy worlds were always more interesting than anything real life could offer. His love of reading was not only contained to books, buying the first issue of Hellboy as a kid inspired a lifelong love of comic books. Growing up, he and his older brother would stay up late on weekends, playing anything from Runescape and Monster Hunter to Gears of War. Eventually, Josh discovered his affinity for RPGs through Fable and Oblivion. Both hobbies naturally lead to an extreme fondness for the litRPG genre. Due to his love of biology and the need to support himself after college, Joshua majored in Microbiology at West Chester University, in addition to a minor in Creative Writing—the only thing to get him through organic chemistry classes. Joshua now lives in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, with his girlfriend Audrey, three reptiles, and their two cats: Paul (the older brother and perfect gentleman) and Benny (a kitten running on rat software). Currently, Joshua works full time at a research lab working mostly in early drug discovery, and dreams of one day writing full time for a living.
