Coming to live in Norfolk for its rivers, marshes and its sailing, I worked as a vet in a rural practice for thirty years before taking up bookbinding which I have now been teaching for many years. A sketching trip to Kings Lynn just a few years ago opened my eyes to the amazing past of our North Sea coast. I have had a lifelong passion for traditional sailing boats and, no longer able to sail now, this has led me to writing and publication of a trilogy of books on the maritime history of the East Anglian coast stretching from Kings Lynn in Norfolk round to Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex. I am now absorbed in the study of all things related to our coast - the fishing, the boats that developed, the merchants of the Hanseatic League and the trading that took place with Northern Europe and into the Baltic Sea and beyond.
