Julie served overseas with a Bible translation organization, where immersion in another language and culture deepened her respect for the precision of Scripture and its historical and cultural context. With a background in linguistics, she brings careful attention to the small details that make the world of the Bible feel tangible and real.

A former birth doula, Julie was captivated by what scholars have uncovered about the first Christmas: Jesus is born in a crowded family home, a midwife at Mary's side, and young shepherds running through the night. When she couldn't find a picture book that brought this world to life for her own daughter, she created The Forgotten Nativity: A Historically Honest Christmas Story.

Julie is a neurodivergent homeschooling mom and the founder of Honest Imagination, where she invites families to look closely at what Scripture says, learn about its world, and imagine the story with wonder.
