www.karaalloway.com Instagram: @karaalloway Twitter: @karaalloway After graduating from McGill University, I moved to Los Angeles and worked as a private party planner for a swank Beverly Hills restaurant. One of our best clients was Conde Nast, who always hosted parties for their magazine cover stars. I connected with some editors and was hired to write and work as the Assistant West Coast Editor for Allure Magazine. It was truly a dream job - not going to lie. We were trained to write about the world of fashion and beauty with a journalistic approach rather than merely regurgitating press releases. Every day was a new and exciting part of the job: reviewing products, visiting trendy boutiques or even being on-deck for Malibu fashion shoots. A few years later I was recruited back to Canada and became editor-in-chief of Ingenue Magazine (a Canadian teen lifestyle and fashion mag) which, under my direction, had the fastest growth in circulation among Canadian publication history for the teen demographic. After that I had the privilege of hosting a daily fashion and beauty radio show, interviewing icons including Stella McCartney, Laura Mercier, Zac Posen, Phoebe Philo, Diane Von Furstenburg, Bob Mackie and Oscar de La Renta. In 2017, I was cast on the Toronto franchise of The Real Housewives of Toronto, prompting several reviewers and viewers to ask, "Without Kara would there even be a show?” I was the Regina George of the show but that's another story. I had done a great deal of charity work and always wanted to produce a reality tv show about what goes on behind the scenes in planning and executing fundraising events. With experience as a reality tv show participant under my belt I returned to LA and landed a contract to produce unscripted shows. I now work on the flip side of the camera and have three reality tv shows in development as an executive producer. Most Hated is my first novel. I live with my husband and 3 boys in Toronto, Canada.
