With 30+ years of experience in the education field, Kelley Robert Ridings is a veteran international educator and global citizen hailing from the United States, but is also a permanent resident of the People’s Republic of China. He has worked with students and professionals from preschool through college levels in a career that has taken him to China, South Korea, Mexico, and the United States (New Mexico and Texas). He has two decades of school leadership experience, specializing in hiring, accreditation, data, professional development, and curriculum. He is International Superintendent at Shanghai SMIC Private School in China where he has been since 2012. His teaching experience is in history and English, working with both high school and college levels. All his degrees hail from his alma mater, New Mexico State University: bachelor’s (secondary education), master’s (history), and Ph. D. (educational administration). He attributes the fundamentals of his career success to his parents, Hugh and Bonnye, through their steadfast support of his educational pursuits and work wherever it has taken him. Sons, Jesse and David, provide inspiration for the future. Teach and Lead Abroad: Easily Find Your Dream Job in International Schools is his first book, but he has also published his dissertation, The Place of At-risk Factors among Students Graduating or Dropping Out of High School: A Study of Path Analyses.
