Choosing to be a stay-at-home mother while raising her six children, Laraine took advantage of opportunities to serve in many capacities. She spent many years volunteering and mentoring at a youth detention center and was honored by the governor of Utah for her work there. She also spent eight years on the national board of American Mothers Inc. where she mentored young mothers. After doing volunteer work for 18 months in Hong Kong, she was given the opportunity to teach oral English in China for three years and quickly accepted the challenge. Teaching is something she has always enjoyed. Being certified in Dr. Lucia Capacchione’s program of Creative Journal Expressive Arts, she has enjoyed creating and facilitating women’s retreats, couples’ retreats, and organizational workshops. Change and challenge have been a part of her life for many years. She has experienced her share of heartache, betrayal and disappointment as she has navigated through difficulties in life. She focuses on the positive and enjoys meeting new people and hearing their stories.
