Leigh Turner is a writer, public speaker and former British ambassador to Ukraine and Austria. He grew up in Nigeria, Lesotho, Eswatini and England and attended Cambridge University. His diplomatic career took him to Vienna, Moscow, Kyiv, Berlin, Hong Kong, Washington D.C., Buenos Aires, Beijing, Istanbul and Las Vegas. In Berlin, he took four years off diplomacy to look after his two children and become a travel writer for The Financial Times. Leigh's book "Lessons in Diplomacy: Politics, Power and Parties" was published by Bristol University Press in 2024. His other books are Berlin thriller "Blood Summit" (2018), speculative comedy thriller "Eternal Life" (2021), Istanbul thriller "Palladium" (2022), and his two collections of black comedy short stories, "Seven Hotel Stories" (2019) and "Seven More Hotel Stories" (2026). Leigh enjoys giving talks about diplomacy to students and corporate audiences, and can often be found on the radio, TV and online.
