Lucy Jane Bledsoe's eighth novel, All Hands on Deck, in which a 61-year-old marine biologist and a 25-year-old climate activist make a run for the Canadian border, is coming out on February 2nd. Stay tuned for exciting programming to be announced soon.

Kirkus Reviews (in a starred review) desribed her last novel, Tell the Rest, as a "satisfyingly nuanced story [that] tackles sexuality and spiritual abuse, offering connection and redemption," and the New York Times said her novel A Thin Bright Line "triumphs as an intimate and humane evocation of day-to-day life under inhumane circumstances." Her debut young adult novel, No Stopping Us Now, is based on her own true story of love, sisterhood, and activism in 1974-5, when she fought to bring her hometown into compliance with the new Title IX law so she could play basketball.

Bledsoe's Lava Falls, a novella and collection of stories at the intersection of wilderness, family, and survival, won the 2019 Devil's Kitchen Fiction Award. Six of her fiction titles have been finalists for the Lambda Literary Award, and three have been finalists for the Ferro-Grumley Award for Fiction.

She has received a Yaddo fellowship, a California Arts Council fellowship, and two National Science Foundation Artists & Writers Fellowships, and her writing has won the Saturday Evening Post Great American Fiction Award, an Arts & Letters Prize for Fiction, a Sherwood Anderson Foundation Fiction Award, four Pushcart Prize nominations, and an American Library Association Stonewall Book Award. Her stories have been translated into Japanese, Spanish, German, Dutch, and Chinese.

Bledsoe loves teaching workshops, cooking, traveling anywhere, basketball, doing anything outside, and telling stories. She's traveled to Antarctica three times—twice as the recipient of National Science Foundation fellowships and once as a guest on the Russian research ship, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov. She is one of a tiny handful of people who have stayed at all three American stations in Antarctica, and she has also stayed in a number of field camps, both on the coast and in the Transantarctic Mountains, where scientists are studying penguins, climate change, and the Big Bang. As a social justice activist, Lucy is currently working on voting rights.
