Lukas Rietzschel, born in 1994 in Räckelwitz in eastern Saxony, lives in Görlitz. His debut novel Mit der Faust in die Welt schlagen was published in 2018, was nominated for the aspekte literature prize and received the Gellert Prize in 2019. In spring 2021, Lukas Rietzschel's first dramatic text, Widerstand, premiered at Schauspiel Leipzig, followed in 2024 by Das beispielhafte Leben des Samuel W., a play commissioned by the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz/Zittau. Raumfahrer was published in 2021, is Lukas Rietzschel's second novel and was awarded the "Text und Sprache" literary prize by the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft. The author was a Villa Concordia fellow in Bamberg in 2019 and a Villa Aurora fellow in Los Angeles in 2023. Lukas Rietzschel received the Saxon Literature Prize in 2022. The German weekly newspaper "Die Zeit" wrote about him: "Lukas Rietzschel is one of the most important writers of the East."
