Marc-David Munk is a palliative medicine physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. Born in Switzerland and raised in Canada, he began his medical career as an emergency physician at university trauma centers. Then, for more than fifteen years, Dr. Munk was a senior executive at prominent US health-care organizations, becoming recognized as an expert in redesigning how health care is delivered. He spent four years overseas as an expatriate physician and executive before returning to academic medicine in the United States in 2024.

Dr. Munk’s next book, an exploration of end-of-life care, will be told through the stories of patients navigating serious illnesses.

He lives outside Boston with his wife and children.
