Marcia Calhoun Forecki grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Her first, Speak To Me, was published by Gallaudet University Press, and won a book award from the President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped in 1986. It has been used in deaf education classrooms for many years. Marcia has published stories in several literary journal, including the Bellevue Literary Journal. Her first collection of stories, Hurricane Blues and Other Stories, published by Write Life, includes "The Gift of the Spanish Lady," a Pushcart nominee. Scheduled for release later in 2013, the novel Blood of the White Bear, is a collaboration between Marcia and award winning screenwriter, producer and director Gerald Schnitzer. Marcia is a contributing editor to Fine Lines literary journal, and writes a blog for writers and readers at GoodReads.com. She is currently writing short stories and a novel set in Missouri during the Civil War era.
