Dr. Mark Roby is a stage-4 cancer survivor and naturopathic physician who has helped hundreds of patents survive life-threatening cancers. His treatment plan includes cutting-edge western medicine, as well as lesser-known holistic and natural approaches. For the past three decades, Roby has held clinical positions at teaching hospitals, including Montefiore Medical Center (Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NYC) and Henry Ford Medical Center (Wayne State University School of Medicine, metro Detroit). In the last eight years, he has served as an integrative clinician and patient-centered cancer strategist. He has lectured extensively for over 20 years on Attitudinal Healing, oncology, and integrative medicine. He is also an active member of The Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, and he's on the Board of The Emerald Heart Cancer Foundation, which supports women seeking integrative medicine. in 1991, Roby cofounded the Metro Detroit Center for Attitudinal Healing with Dr. Laurie Pappas. He was the executive director from 1991 to 1998. When Roby was diagnosed in 2002 with one of the rarest sarcomas (liver and lungs) in the world, clinicians from around the country predicted a short life span and offered only palliative chemotherapy. Roby knew that he would have to go way beyond the standard of care if he wanted to survive. He became an incessant researcher, looking for advanced and novel testing of his tumor, and searching for eclectic clinicians in both the U.S. and Europe who could offer him cutting-edge therapies. Along the way, Roby had a liver transplant. Based on the genetic profiles of his tumors, and the ongoing help of a researcher from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Roby is still in remission today. Roby's story has appeared in the New York Daily News, The Detroit News, and Tami Boehmer's incredible book "Miracle Survivors: Beating the Odds of Incurable Cancer."
