I came into this world as the youngest in a family of twelve children. It was a close quarters study in human behavior. But I left home at 15 years old with a garbage bag full of clothes and my stereo. There’s an optimist in me trying to navigate a cynical world with enthusiasm, encouragement, and perseverance as my wheel. My bootstraps are well worn.

I never thought I would write a book. I don’t have the conventional degrees and experiences of many authors. I didn’t dream of writing as a small child. Instead, I was a high school dropout who earned a college degree while pregnant. I installed an engine in my broken 1971 Mustang. Other people have told me “I wish you could start a school for how you are.” I thought it might be easier to write a book about my school of thought. If the institutions of higher learning offered it, I would obtain a master’s degree in overcoming the obstacles of my own mind or better yet, get a Ph.D. in giggling.
