Mary Lou Reeve Singer, songwriter and author (with a regular full time job though)… If you ask her where she comes from she’ll have to think about it…U.S.A. , Italy, Jupiter? Born in Boston, 100 % Italian blood, at age 7 she moved with her family to New York, in the years when cable TV and music videos were the newest thing. She thought one day she could express the strong emotions she was getting from her favorite pop stars of the 80’s by turning them into something inventive and original to share with others. With a very active imagination and the urge to be creative, she felt New York was the best place to be. One day, when she was 11 years old, her mom called her in the kitchen and said: “ We are moving to Italy “. The author might have been too young to accept the change happily but old enough to understand that life, after all, was a crazy adventure worth to be lived. She grew up in Italy, studied to be a fashion designer and developed the passion for singing and songwriting, where she could place all her feelings. Today she wants to keep on sharing but the stories she wants to tell do not fit into a song anymore. Her debut book “FAT to the bone” is a self-mocking memoir about life as an overweight woman. Italiano: Cantante, cantautrice e scrittrice (no tranquilli, le bollette le paga facendo l’impiegata). Se le chiedete da dove viene, deve pensarci un attimo prima di rispondere. Stati Uniti? Italia? Giove? Nata a Boston ma 100% di “razza” italiana. All’età di sette anni si trasferisce a New York con la sua famiglia, proprio negli anni in cui la grande novità è la televisione via cavo con il canale di video musicali. L’autrice fantastica di poter esprimere, un giorno, le forti emozioni che trae dai suoi idoli degli anni ottanta. Non le manca inventiva ed originalità da condividere con gli altri. Con un’ immaginazione molto attiva e la necessità di creare, Mary sa di essere nel posto giusto: New York. Un bel giorno, all’età di undici anni, la sua mamma la chiama in cucina: “Ci trasferiamo in Italia, questa estate”. Troppo giovane per comprendere ed accettare con gioia questo grande cambiamento, Mary Lou è grande abbastanza però, per capire che la vita, dopo tutto, è un folle viaggio, che vale la pena percorrere.Mary è cresciuta in Italia, conseguendo gli studi come Disegnatrice e Stilista di Moda. Nel corso degli anni ha sviluppato la passione per il canto e la musica: il mondo perfetto dove elaborare i suoi sentimenti. Oggi è spinta dal desiderio di condividere le sue comiche avventure, che trovano più spazio in un libro piuttosto che in una canzone. Il suo primo libro “ Grassa fino all’osso” è un racconto autoironico della vita di una donna in sovrappeso.
