Matt Gjertsen is the founder of Built, a company focused on training the next generation of hard-tech leaders. A US Air Force Academy graduate with a degree in physics, he earned his master’s degree in strategic public relations from George Washington University. Matt served nine years on active duty as an instructor pilot in the T-1 and KC-10. After transitioning from the military, he spent over four years at SpaceX leading training and development, overseeing everything from new hire onboarding to manager and technical training. Since founding Better Every Day Studios in 2021, Matt has worked with organizations such as Vast Space, Lockheed Martin, and the XPRIZE Foundation. His diverse experience gives him a unique perspective on leading teams—one he now uses to help train better managers, build better companies, and create a better world. He lives outside San Francisco, California, with his wife, daughter, and an ever-changing number of dogs.
