Matt Wixon is the author of the novels 3 Seats from the Hero and Fourth Down in Texas. His sports, feature, and humor articles have appeared in more than 100 newspapers, magazines, and online media outlets across the country. He has appeared as a guest on shows on CNN, Fox News and NPR. During more than two decades as a journalist, Wixon has won awards for sports writing, enterprise reporting, humor writing, and headlines. He spent 18 years at The Dallas Morning News, and during that time, the Associated Press Sports Editors ranked his work among the top 10 nationally in projects reporting in 2010, 2015, and 2016. He was also named the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Sports Writer of the Year in 2013 and was selected Media Person of the Year by the Dallas chapter of the National Football Foundation in 2017. Wixon now works in sports communications for the Frisco Independent School District north of Dallas, near where he lives with his wife -- a special-education teacher -- and their three sons.
