Melanie Anne Phillips is author of the Event series and co-creator of the Dramatica Theory of Narrative Structure. Since 1991 she has also taught creative writing and story structure to students from around the world.. As a consultant for the CIA and NSA she has applied her theories of narrative psychology to counter-terrorism, and currently promotes narrative analysis techniques in fiction and the real world through her company, Storymind. Her books include both fiction and nonfiction with offerings in surreal science fiction and on narrative structure and creative writing as well as an ongoing series of autobiographical works documenting her life experiences and philosophic outlook. Ms. Phillips is an avid photographer, favoring subjects in the Yosemite back country but with substantial work in cityscapes and abstracts as well. As a composer of music, she has written hundreds of songs in a wide range of styles from rock to folk to experimental.. Melanie currently lives in California, where she spends time with her children and grandchildren and continues to develop new creative projects in a variety of media.
