Michael Leigh was born and raised in northeast Wisconsin. After attending college at MSOE, Mike served 20 years in the US Navy, specializing in nuclear propulsion. Later, he worked in various manufacturing leadership positions, including time as a Lean Leader for a large corporation. In 2012, Mike founded OpX Solutions, a performance improvement company specializing in helping manufacturers and other companies pursue operational excellence through Lean process improvement and leadership development. Mike is also a Lean instructor for Virginia Tech, and a lead instructor for the VT Lean Academy. Mike frequently speaks regionally and nationally on leadership and lean culture, and is a contributing author on business operations for Valley Business Front magazine. In 2014 he was awarded the Virginia Small Business Veteran of the Year award by the Virginia Small Business Development Centers for his contribution to veterans, the community, and the Virginia economy.
