Michael West is a seasoned business and education professional whose dedication to education and community service spans over four decades. Married to his wife Janis for 45 years, they share three children and three grandchildren, forming a close-knit family. Michael’s career is distinguished by his diverse retail business and education roles, spanning from his roots in South Dakota to Kansas, to Wyoming, and finally settling in Colusa, California. He has been an integral part of city councils and church boards, actively contributing to various committees. His journey in education is marked by significant achievements, including serving as a Chemistry & Physical Science Teacher, Aeronautics Instructor, Assistant Principal, Athletics Director, and Activities Director at Arkansas City and Colusa High School, where he was honored as Coach of the Year. Michael's athletic prowess is further highlighted by his induction into the Hall of Fame as a football and baseball player at Black Hills State University and as part of the team and his recognition as a Hall of Fame Athletics Director for Colusa County. Elected as County Superintendent of Schools for three terms, totaling a decade, Michael's exceptional leadership skills were recognized when he was named California County Superintendent of the Year for Excellence in Leadership. His passion for education is evident in his love for students and his advocacy for literacy. Known as an innovator, Michael is deeply committed to the idea that education should be accessible and enriching for all, embodying the true spirit of a leader dedicated to shaping future generations.
