Mike Cavaliere is a multi-award-winning storyteller and humorist. He studied creative nonfiction at the University of Central Florida then wrote his first book about a group of eccentric sea turtle conservationists called the Turtle Patrol. "Tracks in the Sand: Sea Turtles and Their Protectors" was published by Ocean Publishing and won the Florida Press Association’s President’s Book Award Silver Medal. He also served as editor of "Explore the Southeast National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michele Cousteau," which won the Independent Book Publishers Association’s 2011 Ben Franklin Award. A recovering journalist, his weekly humor column, “Common Nonsense,” was syndicated in Observer newspapers throughout Florida and won multiple awards from the Local Media Association and the Better Weekly Newspaper Contest. He currently works in higher education communications, holds an MBA degree and lives in Florida with his wife, stepdaughter and two dogs, Winnie the Pooch and Geno.
